Hverfjall (also known as Hverfell) is a tephra cone or tuff ring volcano in northern Iceland , to the east of Mývatn.It erupted in 2500 BP in the southern part of the Krafla fissure swarm.
We did full round trip around the top, which offers beautiful view around the country , approx. 4 km.
Strenuous uphill but the views are worth it.
We climbed the crater on a cloudy / foggy day and it really wasn't worth it because visibility was very limited at the top. So check the weather before going!
Mind. Blown. No people (mid June 9pm). Just you and the silent nature.
Probably it's in category 'must to be seen in Iceland ' but it's not that awesome as I thought. ????
Take difficult path, view at top is stunning
Climb the difficult path--you'll feel like you can conquer anything
Winter = don't drive your car through the ice to get here. You will get stuck.
Pay restroom available at trailhead parking lot
