Beautiful waterfall ! There's a short walk from the car park . Be careful in the winter as snow and ice covers the normal route.

In Summer and Fall, you can access Dettifoss and Selfoss from both east and west; however, in late Spring, early Summer, and Winter road 864 is impassable, which leaves you with the west side (862)

Takes some gravel road driving to get there. Its about 45 minutes from the main road . Worth ? Yes. The valley is stunning.

To reach Dettifoss, you will have to drive through snow-covered road for 24km then walk through thick snow for another 800m. Be mentally prepared.

It’s not particularly picturesque but no doubt impressive. Due to the weather conditions only the west road was accessible. If I had to skip a Golden Circle sight, it would probably be Dettifoss.

Waaay off road . There is another waterfall pass detifoss 1.4 km further. make sure u have enough gas.
