Sepilok Orang-Utan Rehabilitation Centre (SORC) is a animal shelter Sandakan located in Malaysia.
Batu 14 (Jalan Labuk Sandakan) 90009 Sandakan , Sabah Malaysia
The entrance fee is Rm5. Feeding time is at 10am and 2pm. The toilet here is awesome, got aircond. Haha. I love the Orang Utan ! Magestic and amazing. We cant see them everyday. They are beautiful!
If you expect the orang utan to come near you, go to a zoo .. This is a place for observation of animal in the wild, come here to support rehabilitation. Seeing the animal upclose will be a bonus.
During Feb when we were there, morning feeding time is 10:00-11:00. Gates open 09:00, go for 9 and get a good spot :) - RM 30 entry RM 10 to take a camera in (well worth it :))
Great way to get there cheap (6 RM) from Sandakan is by the minibus that leaves at 9 am from the Minibus station and goes strait to the centre. Return is at 12.30 and 4pm.
Though the Money trail is closed, you can see macaques and semi-wild orangutans even on Birds trail , watch the trees after 300-400m from the beginning of the trail
Fantastic project. Great spot to see orangutans up close, and Borneo jungle. Includes babies in the nursery .
Go to the feeding platform 20 mins early to get a good spot in the morning
Great initiative . Everyone who thinks that seeing only a few Urangs here really misses the point of rehabilitation. We saw 3 with 2 babies, very close but not invasive. Loved it!
Go quietly and look up! It's possible you'll see big Orangs in the trees on the way to and from the feeding station.
I felt myself in the zoo , not difference. You can see just a few orang-utan, if you go there on feeding time , otherwise you cannot. Of course if you want to help to organisation it worth. Go Sumatra!
Support and see them...a good place to see God's creation!
Worse than the zoo in Kota Kinabalu if u want to see orangutans at a close distance. Here you can probably see 2-3 max at a very far distance... The place can be better run considering the ticket px
Saw 4-5 Malak wild monkeys while walking in the bird trail , much better than the feeding spot.
Its a rehab centre or santuary dont aspect much! Come only during feeding time or else you can still njoy the rainforest
Get inspired by these great and loving animals and adopt an Orang-Utan like we did!
Overcrowded place. The afternoon feeding has less people. Don't understand what were all the precautions about: no belongings, not even water allowed in, but you don't get in touch with wild life. Zoo
Be early as a lot of monkeys will be also early for feeding time
You have to come during lunch time for Orang Utan , or else, u wont c any orang utan around XD
If in 2011 u saw just 2 orang utans , then in 2013 it was 4 orang utans . Very dissapointed.
Makesure u go to d toilet 1st b4 visit.
Cute . But avoid the big toothy smiles.
Nice food nice view
Very goo initiative project..Don't expect u wil c lots orang utan here..this is not a zoo ...
We could see like 3 orangutans .
Orang Utan = Gorilla
Not a best place to go if you're afraid of monkeys :p
Orang utansss
Never coming when it is raining.. U had to walk about 300meter before reach the orang utans .. Somemore no roof at the pavilion.
Very disappointed with the service of the ticketing counter staff , no proper shelter for visitors when raining, lateness of feeding show, only 2 Orang Utan inside the whole park ?
Feedings daily at 10 and 3
only saw 3 orang utans at the feeding.
Felt it was a bit of a letdown to see 2 orangutan 's feeding and that's it. Labuk Bay had more monkeys better setup.
