Montezuma Waterfall is a waterfall Montezuma located in Costa Rica.
1 km norte de la desembocadura del río Montezuma Montezuma Costa Rica
To arrive to the waterfall , just trek the river up from the bridge . Use trekking shoes & a bottle of water. The trek is not easy as the riverside is rocky &slippery.
My favorite place to go on this planet! 20-30 minutes upstream. Bring shoes that can get wet (and won't fall off). Bring a backpack so your hands are free, you'll need them to go to the second falls.
Good shoes is required, because you will walk over rocks, water, tree roots, around 400 meters. The water fall is beautiful, even great for dives.

There is a 2nd SET of waterfalls above the 130 foot falls. Climb the back wall (opposite the falls) and work your way around. Don't come back the same way, go via the Butterfly gardens .
The only spectacular thing about Montezuma. It's 20 mins hike from the highway following the river from the bridge . Worth the effort.
The climb to get the Upper Falls is nowhere near as hard as it looks. You climb up the back wall to get up there, but then you come back a different (easier) way down.
A worthwhile escape from the beach . Don't wear flip flops.
The longer waterfall is just below these falls. The way to the taller falls below however is very dangerous that according to some readings I made, it's NOT advisable for newbies like me.
This is the pool the pours down, creating the large falls below.
Zip line is a blast! Don't be scared.

It's Costa Rica's most untouched national park. $10 to get in. Closed Mon. Tues. A short 90-minute loop or 2 hours to the beach 2 hrs back. Both are a very steep up and down hike. - Gary LaPointe
Nacionales pagan 1000 colones por uso de sendero a la Catarata. - Diana
Beautiful beach. Be sure to make the hike up to the waterfalls, it's well worth the effort. - UnitedSurfCamps
